The photography exhibition “Lithuanian Switzerland” will be opened on May 19 in Anykščiai Chapel - World Anykštėnai Creative Center.

The traveling exhibition of photographs of the Lithuanian Community of Switzerland (ŠLB) “Lithuanian Switzerland” is dedicated to the centenary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state. She started her trip to Lithuania in 2016. On July 17, to commemorate the World Day of Lithuanian Unity, the exhibition travels around the cultural centers, educational and scientific institutions, museums and libraries of Lithuanian cities and towns throughout the anniversary year. The exhibition continues its stay in Lithuania in 2019, the World Lithuanian Year announced by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania.

The exhibition features photographs of ten Swiss Lithuanians, capturing the life and activities of the Lithuanian community in Switzerland, fostering national identity, mother tongue and culture, as well as Swiss traditions and the most spectacular landscapes of the Alpine country. It is a narrative with pictures about the path taken by a small national community from the establishment of the World War II refugee camp to the reflections of the active social activities of the Lithuanian community today.

The curator of the exhibition is Jūratė Caspersen, chairwoman of the Lithuanian community in Switzerland.

The exhibition will run from May 19. until June 18.
